February Already!?!
‘Start as you mean to go on’ has particular relevance for us right now. We’ve started 2011 at a blistering pace and with many projects and a large scale production planned for later this year, 2011 looks like being one full of achievement.
Last week, on January 26th, we completed the first chapter of our 2011 as we presented Mass Carib – A Celebration of Haiti @ Kings Place, London. It was a great success in more ways than one. Firstly, we successfully collaborated with a local (to Islington) community choir in creating a remixed performance of a classic Felix Cross and Nitro piece. The choir learnt and accompanied NITROvox in the performance and did so brilliantly.
Secondly, we streamed the performance live and direct via this website. This was a first for us but it’s by no means the last time we will connect with those that don’t manage to get a ticket to see an event in the flesh. Many of our new projects and productions will include this fantastic live streaming element. If you can’t make it to an event – catch it online!
Thirdly, as Mass Carib was also a celebration of the people and culture of Haiti, a year after their devastating earthquake, we raised a very pleasing amount on behalf of Plan International UK for the people of Haiti. Our last two events for Haiti have raised over £2,500 with which we are very proud.
January, however, didn’t stop there. We, with support from All Change Arts, are busy preparing for another Generations project called At The End of The Rainbow. Its a fantastic piece that is being held at the Freeword Centre, in Farringdon, London on March 9th. Do check it out. More details on ticket availability will be posted very soon. Again, we will be streaming this event live via this nifty website.
Lastly, but by no means least, We are currently rehearsing Freestyle Forum Theatre’s – ‘Concrete & Steel’. We are producing this in partnership with the magnificent Kompany Malakhi. Check it out here for more info.
So, as you can see we’ve had no time for the January blues and have headed into 2011 with a bang! We can’t quite believe its February already but time flies when you’re having fun!
